Gene plus organism is the public-health unit of analysis. A naked 'CRE detected' is not enough.

Multiplex NAA for blaKPC, blaNDM, blaOXA-48-like
CLIA / validation
High complexity. Validate each gene. Screening vs isolate claims are different intended uses.
Interpretation
Detected / Not detected per gene. Always attach the organism SNOMED when known.
Reflex / referral
Isolate submission to the AR Lab Network as required. AST still matters.
Quality control
Gene-specific positives. Watch for new alleles that the panel will miss.
Reportability
Many states require CPO reporting and isolate submission.
HL7 / ELR
One OBX per gene (85502-3, 85503-1, 85504-9 families) plus an organism OBX.
